We have been transferring film for over 20 years. Over that time, new technologies and methods have evolved, and we have continually upgraded our equipment and methods to keep up with this evolution.
True Frame-by-Frame Scanning
Frame-by Frame scanning is accomplished by having the projector show one frame at a time through it's enlarged gate. The projector uses an LED (Light Emitting Diode), which provides even lighting, and eliminates the original hot projector lamp that could burn or melt the film. Instead of being sprocket driven, the film is progressed through the machine one frame at a time, using a gentle "finger" that eliminates breakage of brittle film. The film is treated very gently because it is not running at full speed, but just one frame at a time. The resulting frame is then scanned from the emulsion side of the film using a 3-chip CCD digital camera, which feeds the image via firewire to our state-of-the-art editing system, where sophisticated computer software creates frame accurate digital footage which is an archival quality, progressive scan representation of each frame of film.

Once the footage is in our computer, we can then do almost anything to it. Let your imagination run wild, and think of the possibilities! We can add titles, music, voice-over's, special effects, and perform color corrections at an additional cost. (see our pricing page for more information.)
On the other hand, some people have their own editing systems at home or work. In this case, we can supply all the captured files on a hard drive, or on as many data DVD's as necessary, in full 720x480 uncompressed .avi format, so you can make your own magic!
Please note that if you are doing the editing yourself, we are unable to offer any advice or assistance due to the differences in computer systems, and computer software.
