Introduction: These instructions will show you how to put your pictures/artwork files into a folder that you can upload to us.

First, if you haven't already done so, you need to organize all of your pictures/artwork that you want to upload into a folder of their own. A good way to accomplish this is to create a folder on your desktop. To do this, right click with your mouse in an empty area of your desktop. Move your mouse cursor down to the New menu. When the menu expands, select Folder with your left mouse button. See image below.
On your desktop, you should see a yellow folder with the word "New Folder" highlighted. Now is the time to rename the folder. While the folder is highlighted, type your first and last name and the date - e.g. - John Doe - Sep 26-08. Press Enter. If, for some reason, the folder name was not highlighted then you need to right click the folder, and select Rename, and then type your first and last name together, and the date, as above. See image below.
Now, you need to copy all your pictures you want to upload into this folder you just created. Start by double clicking the folder you just made. It will open, and should be empty inside. Now you need to find the folder on your computer where your pictures were stored originally. In Windows XP, this is most likely to be the My Pictures folder. We will show instructions on how to access this folder only, because if you have saved your pictures somewhere else, you probably are used to finding them wherever that is. If so, just go ahead and open your folder. To open the "My Pictures" folder, click the Start button at the bottom left of your screen. The start menu will open. At or near the top right of this menu, you will see a My Pictures icon. Select this with your left mouse button, and the My Pictures folder will open. See image below.
If you are planning to copy a group of pictures to the folder, then select the first picture with your left mouse button, and while holding down the CTRL key, select the other pictures, one at a time, with your left mouse button. As you select, each picture will become highlighted. If you are selecting all the pictures in the folder, then just hold down the CTRL key and press the A key. This will select all the pictures. Of course if you are just selecting one picture, you will not need to hold down the CTRL key and select others. See image below.
Use your right mouse button to select and copy (or you can hold down the Ctrl key and press "C" for Copy) the picture or pictures you want to put in the folder you are going to upload. See image below.
Now you need to paste the pictures into the folder you created on your desktop. Double click the folder to open it (if it is not already open) and right click with your mouse in an empty area of the folder and select Paste (or you can hold down the Ctrl key and press "V" for Paste). See image below.
Repeat the above instructions until you have copied all the pictures you plan to upload into the folder you created on your desktop. If you are uploading artwork for printing purposes, you do not have to read any further. Close these instructions. If you are uploading a group of pictures to make a video, read on. Now, you need to rename your pictures so that they will be in the correct order you wish to have them show in the video. This way, when we receive the pictures, we will know how to place them. Locate the picture in the folder that you want to be #1. If you can't see the pictures, and just see icons, then you need to change the view. At the top of the folder click View, then select Thumbnails. See image below.
Now, you should see small thumbnail images of all your pictures. Again, locate the picture that you want to be #1. Right click the picture and select Rename. See image below.
This will highlight the picture and allow you to change it's name. Use your keyboard to enter 0001 (that's zero-zero-zero-one). Press Enter. Repeat the steps again for the 2nd picture, the 3rd picture, and so on, until they are all renamed. This naming convention allows you to have up to 9999 pictures. You are now ready to upload your folder to us. Close these instructions. |
