Michele Stephens

Born and raised in Baddeck, Cape Breton Island, Michele has been enthralled with music since early childhood.
Following extensive and varied piano study through her formative years, Michele attended St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, N.S., where she studied in the Jazz Program under the direct tutelage of Skip Beckwith. She also traveled extensively, honing her skills and developing her musical "chops" so to speak in such culturally rich and diverse places as Prague, Czech Republic and Antigua. She now resides in the village of Baddeck with her wonderful daughter Zion where she maintains a home studio, teaches piano and music lessons and manages the Yellow Cello CafÉ.
Michele is currently touring and playing with bassist/artist Danick Clavel. Danick hails from Switzerland, but has been living and working as a musician and teacher for over twenty years on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Her dynamic bass playing compliments Michele's music, adding more harmonic and rhythmic guts to her performances-inticing improv and heavy jams.
